Zafar Ismail

Our dear colleague Zafar, formerly leader of Open Theological Seminary and Barnabas Fund, was the founder of Deir Mar Thoma (DMT) ministry in Pakistan. His cross-cultural knowledge and experience were instrumental to many DMT and WITH initiatives. The passion of his last 20 years has been to help the church in a Muslim majority context, to become missional (again). Sadly, brother Zafar went to be with the Lord rather suddenly in April 2020. His legacy is very much alive and DMT’s ministry continues to thrive and further its vision and reach, under the leadership of Azeeqa and her team, young people he nurtured in his vision and vision. He ambitiously has trained many young people throughout his life to be able to carry the vision he so cherished further, and WITH enjoys the privilege of working with these leaders from Zafar’s network.
